Yesterday I did some rust dyeing and these are the results!! I didn't do any tea dyeing, but think that if I did, I would have gotten some darker results. Still, I'm happy with these and will find a use I'm sure! Even the fabric turned out nicely. I was counting on some of my dyeing being darker so I could use it as backing for another artwork. As it wasn't, I have improvised and am painting 2 A3 pieces as above. A bit of treasure gold and i think I'll be happy with them. These are A4 pieces that I dyed about a month ago using Dala suncolours. I really like the results and working in small pieces works for me as I am less less intimidated by the prospect of cutting them up - big pieces, well I don't want to 'waste' them. :) Posted by Picasa

I have been feeling a bit creatively lacking the last couple of days. I think it is ironic that when I have all the time in the world, I have no inclination to create. I made this journal for my husband. It is covered in a hand-dyed, silky fabric. This was then sewn on and stencilled. I made the 'door' using interfacing which I painted and then stictched. The dangly bits are inspired by Tracy Bautista's new book - which I haven't read. Above is a picture of my Studio/niche. There's just never enough room, is there? I have enough storage - just - utilising a fair whack of the walk in robe in the room. What I would love is more flat spaces to store pieces I'm working on. At the moment they live on top of the filing cabinets with the bills!! Posted by Picasa

Spiral Dance and New Works

I haven't posted any pictures for a while because I haven't had access to a camera. So. The above is titled "Spiral Dance" and almost finished. The spirals are quite symbolic to me: We spiral through the dance of life, we make meaning of our own life by connecting with others. Also the symbolism of rebirth and new beginnings. The second piece, "FLY," you may notice is similar to the postcards shown below. Bit of a naff/ distorted shot by me, but I loved these colours and wanted to repeat the techniques I used on the other project. This last piece is a wall hanging, still unfinished and untitled. It is worked on panne velvet. Hopefully you can see how it has progressed from the earlier pic I posted of it in July.
